In what is likely a first, the Goa government will woo Japanese travellers to the State as the Tourism Department plans to host an exclusive roadshow in Tokyo on February 17. This international roadshow, yet another in the series, comes seven years after the department announced plans to increase Japanese footfalls, which then stood at 250 annually.

The tourism officials stated that the event aims to strengthen Goa’s presence in the Japanese market and attract discerning travellers seeking authentic and enriching experiences.

“This roadshow in Tokyo is an excellent opportunity to connect with the Japanese travel trade industry and showcase Goa’s diverse offerings while highlighting our commitment to sustainability and cultural preservation,” Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said.

The roadshow will bring together key stakeholders from Goa’s tourism sector including hoteliers, travel operators and destination management companies, to interact with the Japanese travel trade as well as the media. It will highlight Goa’s rich cultural heritage, pristine beaches, culinary delights, eco-tourism initiatives, and growing prominence in regenerative tourism.

“We aim to showcase the diverse experiences that Goa has to offer while promoting responsible tourism practices. We look forward to building stronger connections and welcoming more travellers from Japan to experience the authentic charm of Goa,” Tourism Director Kedar Naik said.

The growing demand for wellness tourism will be highlighted through Goa’s wellness retreats, Ayurveda, yoga centres, and holistic healing experiences. The roadshow will further present Goa’s diverse Adventure and Nature offerings, inviting travellers to explore treks, waterfalls, spice plantations, birdwatching, and ecotourism hotspots beyond its famous beaches.
