Tiatr shows set to resume at Ravindra Bhavan in Margao from Nov 7

Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, Rajendra Talak had an interaction with tiatr directors, wherein it was decided to resume tiatr shows from November 7 after a five-month break.

MARGAO
After an over five-month break, tiatr shows will finally resume at the Pai Tiatrist auditorium of the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, from November 7.
This became evident as Ravindra Bhavan has allotted bookings of the auditorium for the staging of tiatr from November, after Chairman Rajendra Talak had a meeting with tiatrists, including tiatr directors, on Thursday.
Tiatr directors who did not seek refunds for booking the auditorium while Ravindra Bhavan was shut for repairs and renovation over the past five months have been given priority to stage their shows. In fact, the meeting between the Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan and the tiatr directors decided to allot the auditorium to the directors till January 2026.
The meeting was held on Thursday, against the backdrop of a review meeting chaired by PWD Minister Digambar Kamat, BJP President Damu Naik, and Talak, wherein it was decided to open the auditorium for shows from the first week of November.
Briefing the media, Talak said, “After taking a review of the ongoing works, which are now nearly complete, it has been decided to open the Pai Tiatrist Hall for tiatr and other shows from November 7. We have today allotted the auditorium for staging of shows from November 7.”
He said those tiatr directors who did not seek refunds after their shows were cancelled due to the repair and renovation work will be given priority. “I am happy that there was unanimity among the tiatr directors. We have opened bookings of the hall for them from today. We will allot the hall for tiatr shows till January 7,” he added.
Saying that Ravindra Bhavan and the tiatr fraternity enjoy cordial relations, Talak said there have been no disputes between the institution and tiatrists. “Some people tried to spread false news that Ravindra Bhavan would no longer be available for tiatr. Tiatrists did not fall prey to this false propaganda since they know how we have been working to upgrade the institution. I want to go on record to say that tiatrists have never spoken against Ravindra Bhavan,” Talak added.
Tiatr director Lawry Travasso said tiatrists are happy to hear that the Pai Tiatrist Hall will be made available to stage shows from November 7. “The tiatr fraternity passed through difficult times over the last five months when Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, was out of bounds to stage tiatr. Some of the directors did stage shows at Gomant Vidya Niketan to provide entertainment to tiatr lovers, but it was not working economically due to less seating capacity,” he said.
Another tiatr director, Menino de Bandar, complimented Ravindra Bhavan Chairman Rajendra Talak for ensuring that the repair and renovation work was completed on schedule. “We faced so many problems when the auditorium was out of bounds for tiatrists. Directors who had launched tiatr during the monsoons had to pass through a difficult phase. I am sure that the resumption of tiatr shows will bring good news for tiatr lovers,” he said.
