A holiday in Goa ended in tragedy when a youth from Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh died while another was injured in a road mishap at Arpora in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to reports, the deceased, Sahasranshu Chandella (23), was employed in Pune and he, along with three other colleagues, had come to Goa on a holiday. The accident took place as the four tourists were travelling from Arpora towards Baga on two rented bikes.
At about 12.30 am, Chandella tried to overtake a minibus carrying tourists near the Marina Dourado Resort when he lost control of the two-wheeler and both riders fell on the ground.
Chandella was seriously injured in the accident, while his friend who was on the pillion sustained minor injuries. Both were moved to the Candolim Primary Health Centre where Chandella was declared dead by the doctors.
The friend was later discharged from the PHC. On receiving information about the accident, an Anjuna police team went to the site and conducted the panchnama. Further investigation is in progress.
