In order to take various schemes to the grass-roots levelthe cabinet has approved and created 42 posts under the administrative controlof Directorate of Women and Child Development. While seven posts have beencreated as part of a new setup for the newly formed Dharbandora taluka, theremaining posts are for the head office in Panjim.
In order to remove the burden on the government due toexcess contract staff enrolled earlier, the Cabinet has decided to remove 214contractual staff thereby keeping only 257 in services with the hike insalaries of theirs.
The Cabinet has also resolved and approved a master planunder which it has been decided that a separate prison department be made. Theearlier Collector (North), who was the ex-officio Inspector General of Prisonsand now the full time IG prison has been appointed who can take care of theprison department with independent charge.
Since the construction of new modern central jail at Colvaleis in its final stage, it was decided and resolved by the Cabinet to convertthe Central jail in Aguada into an exclusive women’s prison as well as foryoung offenders between the age group of 18 to 21 years who would be lodged atMapusa Judicial lock up after renovation.
In the Colvale Central jail, separate enclosures meant forwomen and men prisoner will be utilised for housing convicts and under-trailmale prisoners separately. The Sada sub jail will be converted primarily as a prisonfor housing under trails in the age group of 21 years and above.
The Cabinet also resolved to explore the possibility ofallowing the prison department to use two acres of land at Curca for setting upa prison department and a state prison training centre with the rest of theland for open prison/ half way home in future.
The Cabinet also approved the appointment of three retiredaccount assistant officers in the Director of Agriculture for the period of one year.
It was also resolved to approve amendments in the notifiedShetkari Adhaar Nidhi scheme. Under the new amendments, “the losses caused tothe cultivated crops and to infrastructure due to wild animals shall also becovered under the schemes.”
The state cabinet on Thursday also approved the nomination ofDr. Mohan Sangodkar for GPSC.
