The Goa government on October 1 notified a scheme to providesupport to housewives from the middle, lower and poor sections of the society.Beneficiaries of the scheme will be provided Rs 1,000 per month to address theproblems of spiralling prices and provide support to the economically weakersection of the society.
Announcing the launch of Griha Aadhar Scheme, Chief MinisterManohar Parrikar explained that the scheme was meant for married, widow ordivorced women from families whose gross annual income was Rs 3 lakhs andbelow.
The beneficiaries of the scheme should not be beneficiariesunder the Dayanand Social Security Scheme. However, a widow having a childshall be eligible for the benefit even if she is a beneficiary of DSSS.
The forms for the scheme will be made available fromDussehra where in first phase 30,000 forms will be printed and distributed.
The total expenditure to the State would be around Rs 150crores which can also go up to Rs 180 crores for this financial year and willbenefit around 1.50 lakh women across the State.
The applicant needs to be a resident for last 15years andobtain an income certificate, which can be also taken on plain paper with Rs 20revenue stamp and certified by any gazetted officer.
Forms will be made available in the ICDS taluka offices.
The applicant also has to submit a life certificate everyyear. From the next financial year (01-04-2013) the Aadhar card will be madecompulsory. A committee is formed under Secretary Women and Child Developmentwho will scrutinize all the forms.
15,000 applicants will be sanctioned in a calendar month.
