Tanya Patel won the first prize in the Sub-Junior girls category by beating Samisha Shetye while Shantesh Mapsekar won the Sub-Junior boys category by beating Nagesh Verekar in the summit clash of the 34th Salgaocar Table Tennis championships which was organised by Cortalim Gymkhana at Shri Manguesh Maharudra Hall.
Sneha Mesta won the cadet girls category by beating Trisha Hammanvar and Shantesh Mapsekar won the Cadet boys category by beating Arav Iyer in the finals to take home a double crown. Leoma Fernandes won in the Mini Cadet girls category by beating Sunidhi Savoikar while Aaron Farias won in the Mini Cadet boys category by beating Akshan Lavande in the finals.
The chief guest for the function was Sarpanch of Cortalim, Sania Barretto and Vishnu Kudalkar, General Secretary of Goa TT Association. The tournament was sponsored by V M Salgaocar & Brothers business house Vasco.
Trophies and certificates were given to the winners of the tournament. Sham Keni welcomed the guests and also looked after the overall management of the tournament. Satish Keni, general secretary of Cortalim Gymkhana conducted the finals of the tournament. Peter Barretto, President of Cortalim Gymkhana was present for the tournament along with Ravindra Keni, Devendra Kenkre and Vincent Fernandes who are members of Cortalim
Gymkhana.
Scholarship for securing the highest marks in SSC from Cortalim village was given to Priya Singh of Vidhya Vihar School for securing 91% and the scholarship was donated by President of Cortalim
Gymkhana Peter Barretto.
