PONDA
The Congress leaders on Sunday stated that the BJP will not win more than four seats in the next assembly election as it has worked against the interest of public and hoped that they will win at least 25 to 26 seats.
The meeting of Congress held at Shiroda was attended by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar, former CM and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, party leader M K Sheikh and others.
“Subhash Shirodkar has done gaddari (traitor) with the Congress, the people of Shiroda and Goa for his personal gains. He has sold himself to the BJP. The exact figure of his deal will come out. All will come to know for how much he has sold himself to the BJP,” Chodankar said.
“Both Shirodkar and Dayanand Sopte should be taught a lesson. Defeat them so that no one dares jump parties again,” Chodankar appealed.
“I am sure that BJP will not get more than four seats in the next assembly election as it has failed to resolve the issues of the State. We will get 25 to 26 seats,’’ Chodankar said optimistically.
GPCC president Chodankar clarified that the people of Shiroda constituency will decide about the candidate. “We will not impose a candidate on you as per our choice. The choice will come from your side. Let us work together and defeat Shirodkar,” He said.
According to Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, “The BJP government has totally failed to work in the interest of the public. During our regime we used to get awards in the health area. Now they can’t even complete the work of a district hospital in Salcete. The condition of hospicio hospital in Margao is very bad,” Kamat said.
He said that in the present scenario, the BJP will not get more than four seats in the assembly election.
“Decades ago, the people of Benaulim had created history by electing local youth Luth Ferrao on an MGP ticket in the bypolls defeating Dr. Wilfred DSouza of the UGDP. A similar history should be created by Shiroda by defeating Shirodkar and giving victory to the Congress,” Kamat said.
“State president never leaves the party as he/she remains always committed to the ideology of the party. The case of Subhash Shirodkar may be the first,” Kamat said.
