PANAJI: The Congress on Sunday said that there are more audio clips of the BJP MLA and Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane in which he speaks critically about Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and also about the conspiracy to take over power from the ailing Chief Minister.
At a press conference held at the Congress headquarters here, party spokesperson Rohit Bras De Sa said the telephonic conversations revealed on social media are just the tip of the iceberg and the new audio clips could find their way into the public domain soon.
“We have come across a telephonic conversation of the Health Minister, where he is in a hurry to unseat the Chief Minister,” said De’sa.
When asked about what these telephonic conversations are De’sa said: “I can’t reveal all the details now. The Health Minister knows what I am talking about. There are telephonic conversations out there. I have heard the conversations. But I will wait for them to be released in the public domain... I can’t disclose the source.”
An audio clip featuring a telephonic conversation between Rane and an unidentified journalist -- where the minister claimed that Parrikar in a cabinet meeting claimed to possess Rafale deal files -- had created ruckus in Parliament during the recently concluded winter session.
Rane had later claimed the tape was doctored and Parrikar had subsequently denied making the comment.
Meanwhile, De Sa also criticized the government for curtailing the upcoming session of the Goa legislative assembly to just 3 days.
“The government is disregarding the spirit of Constitution which requires the legislature to legislate and hold the government accountable for its action and policies,” De’sa said.
The issue of government failure to find a systemic solution on adulteration of fish with formalin, casinos, mining, the proposed new CRZ notification need to be debated, he added.
“For the last two years there are no serious legislations brought by the government,” said De Sa, adding that the fact that Parrikar is in no position to defend questions is the reason for holding a short session of the assembly.
De’sa also alleged that coalition partners - MGP, Goa Forward and Rohan Khaunte - are trying to extract maximum benefit of the poor health of Chief Minister.
He also alleged that the MGP is blackmailing the government.
Stating that the TCP Act amendment 16B is challenged before the High Court, Desa advised the people not to take recourse to it to regularize their structures.
