“The Congress will form the government in Goa if it wins both seats during the upcoming by-elections,” said leader of opposition and Quepem MLA Chandrakant Babu Kavlekar. He was speaking during the function held on Sunday at Quepem to launch the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress’ “Chalo Panchayat, Chalo Ward Abhiyan”.

According to Kavlekar, there is a positive wave in South Goa towards the Congress but the party including the Youth Congress must work hard to reach the people and ultimately win their hearts.

Speaking during the occasion, President of Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Varad Mardolkar said that Chalo Panchayat, Chalo Ward Abhiyan is meant to explore the sentiments of the people in villages, to know their problems and the hardships faced by them. He said that the youth is frustrated as a large section of educated youth is jobless.

According to Mardolkar, membership of Youth Congress from Quepem is highest and all will actively work to get rid of those who made empty promises.

He stressed that the main issues faced by the youth is the menace of drugs and Congress is committed to tackle it to secure their future.

“The Congress is committed to enhancing sports policy, job creation and self-employment as there are not enough government jobs for all,” he stated.

AICC Secretary incharge of Indian Youth Congress Krishna Allavaru advised the people to vote wisely during the upcoming elections.

He said that PM Narendra Modi had said, “Na Khavunga, na khane dunga” but everyone knows about Ambani’s Rs 30,000 crores deal and about Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi and Vijay Mallya.

He said that deaths of farmers due to bad policies, demonetization and ‘Gabbar Singh Tax’ are the biggest failures of the BJP government.

President, GPCC, Girish Chodankar said that the youth must thrive to build leadership by connecting to the people in panchayat and ward committees if they want to rise in politics.

Exposing the BJP government in Goa, Chodankar said that BJP in their election manifesto had promised jobs to the youth and had said that if they don’t get jobs then each youth would get Rs 4000 per month which not a single youth has received till date.

Francisco Sardinha appealed to the youth cadres to work with unity so that both LS seats are won by Congress. Cuncolim MLA Clafasio Dias said that Congress must announce the candidates as early as possible so that they can reach the people in every nook and corner of Goa.
