Thousands joined in to celebrate the second edition of NoMoZo along the service road at Porvorim on Sunday which also saw star cricketers Yuvaraj Singh and Sreesanth in attendance.
Revenue Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte inaugurated the event by releasing balloons in the air in the presence of DGP Muktesh Chandar and panch members.
Speaking on the occasion, Khaunte stated that such unique programmes bring together all the sections of the society regardless of religion, cast and culture and foster a spirit of unity.
“The theme of this programme is community togetherness. NoMoZo organised last year was a success. This year it has received better response,” said Khaunte.
DGP Muktesh Chander said that such type of fun events are organised in Delhi and other states too. “While enjoying the event, it is responsibility of the citizens to see that traffic rules are obeyed strictly,” said DGP Chander.
The police traffic department also had a stall at the event and even organised a quiz competition for the youth.
The sarpanch of Penha de Franca Swapnil Chodankar welcomed the gathering.
The service road wore a festive look as thousands of people participated in this unique programme. There were several stalls selling Goan food, snacks, jewellery, soft drinks, gift articles, etc. The youths presented various Indian and Western dances and entertained the crowd. There were live demonstrations of sports like marshal arts, zumba, etc.
