Former Home Minister Ravi Naik’s son Roy Naik on Mondaycategorically said that he had no nexus with any drug dealers and that he hadnever met Atala or his girlfriend Lucky Farmhouse.
As per the statement of Atala’s girlfriend, which is in thepossession of The Goan, Lucky has clearly mentioned that former home minister’sson Roy Naik was involved in drug deals with Atala, the notorious drug dealer.
“The allegations leveled against me are false, fabricatedand politically motivated to divert attention and malign my name,” Roy said.
Roy was addressing a press conference in Panjim on Monday.
He said that he will be filling defamatory cases againstthose media houses and reporters, who have published the news without lookingat the authenticity of the documents.
“The CBI is inquiring into the case. I have been called byCBI on five occasions but they (CBI) never asked me about Lucky and thisstatement of hers,” said Roy while doubting the media report.
He said if Lucky existed then she should come to Goa anddepose before CBI.
He further questioned how the translated document was leakedto media.
On the alleged translation that one of the reporters wasshowing in some electronic media, he said: “What authenticity the saidtranslation has? Let the reporter come out in the open and disclose from whichsource he got the said translation. What is the credibility of the saidtranslation? Anyone can prepare a translation and bring it before the media.”
Lucky’s statement which was recorded on December 20, 2010 byinquiry officer Meelis Tuur, a detective inspector and which was translated onSeptember 21, 2012 by David Kendall, an authorized public translator, hasclearly mentioned the name of Roy Naik, son of former Home Minister, Ravi Naik.
Lucky in her statement said that Atala referred to Roy as“Boss”. She said Atala used to get drugs from Roy Naik. Narrating an incidentwhen she was in the car with Atala near Calangute church, she said: “Roy Naikcame on a bike and handed over a drug parcel to Atala.” She, however, said thatshe did not know what deal was struck between Roy and her boyfriend, Atala.
She had also revealed that Atala was even bribing Anjunapolice every day to run his business with music beyond the permissible time.She said that Atala used to say “dear brother” to cops in Goa.
The Crime Branch which was initially investigating the casehad cited that they had no resources to take Lucky’s statement and the case waslater handed over to CBI.
Lucky had exposed links between her former boyfriend, anIsraeli national Yaniv Benaim alias Atala and the policemen, through the videoclippings, which were uploaded on social networking website.
“Roy Naik’s name is there in the translation copy which wehave. I don’t know the authenticity of the report which the media has,” said SPCBI Prem Kumar.
He said that we have been summoning Roy on many occasions.“The investigation is still on,” he added.
