Political Patrao / His Montri's Daughter

Political Patrao / His Montri's Daughter

There is a new beat for Vasco’s Traffic Police is what Political Patrao found out on Airport Road this week.  The busy junction that intersects near Chicalim Sports Ground and Chicalim Industrial Estate, near Navy Children School, has a traffic cop permanently surfacing every day in the morning when the school begins and afternoon when the school ends. Parents picking their children up told PP that ever since Mormugao MLA Milind Naik has become a minister, the police are at hand regulating traffic during busy hours. “His daughter is studying in the junior section, no?” informs a parent. But was the cop there when Milind Bab was a MLA? “Of course not”, the parent said with a wink. The parents are extremely happy because never in the school’s history was any calls to Vasco Traffic Police ever attended to. It pays to be a Montri’s daughter, even if you are not Valanka.

The Omnipresent, Congressman

Reginaldo Lourenco, the last voice of the depleted Congress decided to be hero and turn up in support of the shack owners at a public meeting held in Mickky’ backyard at Our Lady of Remedious Church. The Curtorim MLA timed his entry in such a way that he wanted to make the last speech against Parrikar. PP saw a red-faced Reginaldo bump into a chai sipping media as he turned up half an hour after the meeting concluded. Hi voice heard only by the giant public address systems being dismantled.

In politics, there are no permanent enemies...

Seven months ago they both hated each other. But on birthdayof Mahatma Gandhi, Political Patrao saw former Vasco MLA Jose Philip D’Souzamake his public comeback with an event sponsored by NRB Chairman Nana Bandekar. Now everybody knows that Philip had Revenue Department officials raiding Nana’sShirgao Mines offices, while Nana pitched in his resources to defeat Philip inthe elections. However, the duo bonded over an All India Bicycle Race hosted byPhilip and sponsored by Nana. “In politics, no one is untouchable. Whatever hashappened is history” said Philip basking in Nana’s sunshine. Nana has beenespecially unhappy with his boys Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida and Mormugao MLAMilind Naik for playing truant to him. This new bonhomie has thrown politicalpundits into a tizzy. Not to miss an opportunity to assume leadership of theunrepresented, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai told Philip “You should forget thepast and mobilise the present for the future”. PP how many more are cueing upto cash in on Nana’s disillusionment with his boys.

The Real Helmet Story

Wonder why Goa is not implementing strict helmet rules? Thereason has a Hyderabadi connection. A year after cricketer turned Congress MPMohammed Azharuddin lost his son in a bike mishap in Hyderabad, he pushed forthe Hyderabad administration to implement a strict helmet rule for all bikeriders. Over 60 defaulters are booked across the city for violating the ruleeveryday. With helmet distributers and manufacturers pumping helmet sales anddistribution into Hyderabad, there is an acute shortage of helmets and nobodycan meet Goa’s helmet demand for another three months. PP wonders if the delayin implementing helmet rule in Goa has something to do with Transport DirectorArun Dessai’s fascination with helmets distributors.

It was a murder most foul.
