The big fish of the Goa Congress were out of their smallpond and in the huge sea of Congressmen at the All India Congress Committeemeeting at Jaipur. Political Patrao, who went to Jaipur, saw that with SoniaGandhi and her prince, AICC’s senior secretaries and the entire union cabinet inattendance, former CM Digambar Kamat and the president who has resigned “Subhash Shirodkar, felt a tad lonely. Jaipur isn’t Malbhat (Margao) or Shirodaand the duo watched other leaders and journalists making a beeline for nationalleaders and the TV leaders party spokespersons Mani Shankar Aiyar, ManishTiwari (also I &B minister) and evergreen favorite Jairam Ramesh. Thesolitary Diggu had his moments though, when someone said hello and he glowedwhen he was introduced as Goa’s ex Chief Minister, who ruled a full term.
Obedient boy Subhash?
Subhash Shirodkar may have resigned but he has decided to bea good boy and follow what “Madam”(no marks for guessing who she is) says tothe T. Clutching a copy of AICC’s Jaipur declaration Subhash plans to go to boothsin all 40 constituencies to spread noble thoughts and implement action pointsin the declaration. Political Patrao however wonders if Shirodkar willimplement para 55 of the declaration, which says “When senior party leadersrecommend particular candidates they must own responsibility for failure.”Shirodkar told PP in Jaipur that he will indeed take action against leaders whousurped assembly tickets for their followers (The prime accused here isVishwajeet Rane), PP suspects that Shirodkar will play safe and follow thepolicy of “whatever happens in Jaipur stays in Jaipur.”
When Mopa met anti Mopa @ an airport lounge
Chance meetings are always interesting. On one suchWednesday evening, Mr Talk Out Loud, Curtorim MLA Alexio Reginaldo Lourencobumped into fellow competitor in the talk space Jitendra Deshprabhu , thelandlord of Mopa at the airport lounge. And lo and behold, also present werethe Union Civil Aviation Secretary and Joint Secretary, who had just landed fora meeting on the progress of the Mopa airport with the Chief Minister.Reginaldo pounced on the opportunity and expressed concern about the tardyrehabilitation process linked to land acquisition. In his presence Deshprabhumaintained a dignified silence but as soon as he left, the Viscount of Pernemwaxed eloquent about the project and about how he as landowner is fully supportive.No one wonders why?
