At a time when the Alemao family is down and out after fourof the family members were routed in the last Assembly polls, Churchill is nowlooking at making a comeback in the MP elections slated for 2014.
“Sardinha worked against me and my family in the lastAssembly elections. Digambar Kamat worked against me by fixing the EVMs in myconstituency, which finally led to my defeat. I will contest against Sardinhain the coming Lok Sabha polls,” asserted Churchill at his Navelim meeting lastweek.
At the meeting Churchill did not lose an opportunity to hitout at The Goan for exposing his scams. The senior Alemao has surprisinglydropped his daughter, Valanka from the meeting that is considered to testwaters for his return to politics. But the former PWD minister is not averse tomaking come-backs.
From winning to losing, Churchill has a history of defeatingbig names. Churchill in the past has defeated heavyweights like Monte Cruz,Eduardo Faleiro, Luizinho Faleiro but tasted defeat at the hands of firsttimers Mickky Pacheco and Avertano Furtado.
“Churchill is anextra-ordinary communicator and has been able to stay relevant with the peoplefor almost three decades. On his negatives, it’s better not to speak about it,”said a former Union Minister who faced defeat at his hands.
Pointing at the corruption tag associated with Churchill, his close aide Radharao Gracias said, “From the first Chief Minister of Goatill the last, all of them are corrupt. It’s India’s legacy to have corruptpoliticians. People like corrupt politicians like Churchill because theyaccumulate more and more wealth to distribute during elections. Goans don’tmind the bad aspect of a politician if there is free money and booze to get.”
