This is with reference to the report, "Taxi imbroglio - app-based taxi service the way forward… - The Goan Everyday - July 25, 2024." Public transport in Goa has been a problem and one can understand the hardships faced by the people and the tourists as well. While the authorities may be putting in all efforts to make travel a little more comfortable, the Transport minister's suggestion that ‘app-based’ service in Goa being the way forward, seems good. However, these app-based services need to be monitored for in course of time they tend to become unreliable. When app-based taxi services were first introduced in Mumbai, people expressed satisfaction and relief for they had found a service which they could depend upon. However, today there seems to be disappointment as these app-based aggregators have become unreliable due to cancellations by drivers and clients are then forced to use the local auto rickshaw services in the suburbs, out of frustration. That is not the way, such services should be operated. Yes, one couldn't agree less, the authorities need to ensure a disciplined system for the taxi service sector.
