Delayed widening of MDR-10 road in Siolim causes hardship

The delay in widening the MDR-10 road in Siolim has left pedestrians and motorists dependent on the Public Works Department (PWD) for safe travel. The authorities’ inaction is causing significant hardship. 

In Assagao, a house was demolished, and a similar situation is happening to a house opposite St. Francis Xavier’s High School. The residents are facing unbearable difficulties because a trench has been dug right in front of their entrance, with no temporary arrangements made for them to access their home. 

What responsibility do PWD engineers have for such developments? It is their duty to ensure that no resident is inconvenienced when entering their home. The engineers should not take undue advantage of Siolim residents under the guise of development, especially when such actions lack proper permission. The culture of bulldozing without proper planning seems to be becoming the norm in Goa.
