The recent attack by dogs on children in St Cruz is condemnable. It has become a status symbol for people today to keep the most feared dog breeds. In Margao people are even found to hire people to walk their dogs and feed them. While foreign countries have quarantine laws, the same are found to be absent in India. While walking or driving down various lanes in Goa one is often confronted by ferocious dogs. This is inappropriate on public roads. Entering someones private property compound is a different matter. Isn't it fair enough that if Goans are receiving Portuguese citizenship that Goan dogs should also be allowed to migrate to Europe ? Goan dogs are found to be economical dogs. They go by the broad category of 'Pariah', which is rather demeaning. There is a famous breed of dogs in Europe known as 'Great Dane.' Why not Re-classify our own local breed of dogs as 'Mundane.'
