The first batch of Agniveer were selected under the scheme of Agnipath introduced last year for the Indian army. Around 3,000 youth were trained under the scheme at 3 MTR military camp, Rawanfond, Margao and 1,422 were selected with passing out parade. It's nice to see that youth with enthusiasm and energy have completed the training successfully and will be posted around the country. The scheme was introduced for the youth who want to join Indian army and will be for a period of 4 years. After four years they can join any other place with the experience and would be given first preference in the applied post. The scheme was much opposed by many in the introduction phase but it looks beneficial for those who want to make a career in Indian army. The existing scheme has a tenure of 15 yrs service in both army and naval field and can continue further or leave the same. The army or naval person has nothing to lose but on contrary are in advantageous position when they come out from the said field with training, discipline and experience.
