This is with reference to the news report ' Battered roads remain as PWD deadlines slip again' (TGE, Oct 2). 'What can't be cured has to be endured' is the oft-quoted English proverb that can be aptly used to describe the plight of the people in Goa facing fear and danger to life due to the pathetic state of Goa roads. Even the newly appointed PWD Minister Digambar Kamat appears to have thrown up his hands in frustration after his 5-day ultimatum to his engineers to patch up the badly potholed NH-66 stretch at Porvorim seems to have failed. Sad but true that we have now come to a stage that even ambulances ferrying the sick to hospital are overturning while attempting to avoid the potholes -- the first of its kind in Goa. So what next? Will our Chief Minister Pramod Sawant please tell us ?
