Lack of financial literacy bane of Goans

Goans were amongst the earliest communities from India to have access to global higher incomes versus most other Indian citizens!  This was mainly due to the fact that many Goans went abroad to Africa and thereafter the Gulf region to earn in petro dollars which gave them the opportunity to create lifestyles way beyond the Indian average. The ideal thing that should have happened was for these Goans to move from "working for money" to "money working for them" where they could have lives of financial freedom for themselves and their next generation; at above average lifestyles!  However the latter did not happen and most of the said Goans/next generations are still struggling  in the "working for money" bracket..... And the main reason for this (which I was also part of for some time!) was the lack of financial literacy (which is unfortunately not taught in schools) and unlike a few other communities in India, Goans are generally "financially illiterate".  I urge Goans to start prioritising financial literacy and the rewards of doing so can be really positive for themselves and their next generations.
