Mollem projects should be shelved at all costs

With the protests against the three projects, namelydouble-tracking, power transmission line and the highway expansion, becominglouder and louder, it would be prudent that the government of Goa accepts theCentre’s alternative to by-pass Goa and route the projects through theneighbouring states. Protests against the projects have been sustained andwidespread and decisively with an overwhelming. Coal transportation should notbe allowed through the eco-sensitive part of the Western Ghats as a lot is atstake as far as the destruction of the environment and the adverse impact posedto the diverse flora and fauna of this region. Goans are by and large verypossessive about the preservation of the environment and with political leadersacross parties being against these projects, the will of the people shouldprevail. Several NGOs as well as Goans of all walks of life are opposed tothese projects.
