Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar recently warned that coal handling operations at Mormugao Port would be forcibly shut down if pollution and foul odour caused by coal were not brought under control within three days. It's important to note Amonkar was voted in by people on Congress ticket mainly because of his poll promise to clear Mormugao of coal menace. The actual authority giving permissions to the port for handling coal actually is Goa government led by the BJP. Hence I request the MLA to stop playing both sides. If he really is selflessly interested in addressing the coal pollution menace he should join the fight/protest against the main entity involved i.e. BJP Goa Govt and join forces with people from other parts of Goa like Velsao, Cansaulim, Vasco etc and be part of a bigger pan-Goa movement to stop coal handling and corridor in Goa.
