With reference to the report ‘Stop victim-blaming Indian students in war-hit Ukraine’ - The Goan Everyday, February 28, that was a scathing attack on the social media and the government at the Centre. It was well worded and timely piece, in view of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Whenever there is a conflict outside, it is those from other countries who have gone to such countries either for study, for work or just for a holiday or maybe to settle down, who are the worst affected. Presently, students studying medicine in Ukraine are under tremendous pressure. They were looking at a great future after completing their studies in Ukraine. According to news reports, many students are in bunkers, waiting to be taken to safety. Your edit rightly questions the attack by the social media and the government against these students stuck in Ukraine. These are Indian citizens who rightly deserve to be brought back home safely. And while all this criticism and blame-game is on, let even one of these students complete their studies and make it big, settling down America and this same media and the government will go gaga over their success.
