Panjimites should oppose CoP building and casinos

Panjimites should carry forward the legacy of Dr Joe de Sousa   who was resolutely fighting against the construction of Captain of Ports department terminal building, first in the High Court and then in the National Green Tribunal.  It would be a fitting tribute if the citizens of Panaji rally around his quest to prevent this illegal structure from being constructed. Also, it would be a big success for the residents of Panaji if the 6 casinos are shifted from the mouth of the river Mandovi as had been stated that these casinos would be relocated to Mopa airport.  To emphasise a fact,  the casinos do not benefit Goans as at least 80 -  90 % per cent of the jobs in these casinos are held by staff who are mainly from the northeast. Gambling should not become widespread in Goa, by luring youth who may destroy their earnings and lead to broken families in the state. Besides the casinos are blocking the mouth of the river Mandovi and is damaging the beauty of the city. Further licences to operate these off-shore casinos should not be renewed.
