The Gujarat experiment of completely overhauling the Cabinet is very interesting.
At face value such an experiment would turn out to be an outright disaster. But not so in Gujarat. The heavyweights who thought they were untouchable, are now left sucking their thumbs.
For one thing, they have no future in joining another party. For another, they know that the people are fed up of them. As it is turning out, the grass root workers are extremely happy that with heavyweights out they can fancy their chances of moving up the ladder, becoming MLAs and even ministers.
Hitherto, their upward mobility was completely blocked by the heavyweights. The entire party has been given a shot in the arm except the heavyweights, but they don't matter as they will soon become redundant.
So will the Gujarat model be replicated in Goa? It is definitely worth taking a gamble not only for the BJP but for all parties in Goa.
The big boys have been around for far too long. Time to show them the door and inject fresh blood in Goa.
