The road from Maria Hall to Benaulim beach is perpetually under a state of siege. During the monsoons it was cut to facilitate a water pipeline for a starred hotel. The cut portion was haphazardly repaired and now the unevenness of the surface makes it difficult to walk on.
As of last week it was again cut and filled with laterite rubble for God knows what. The local MLA seems to be least bothered, busy as he is in expanding his party’s footprint. Very soon Benaulim will cease to have roads, only bumpy dirt tracks.
