The late Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had once said "Ajeeb hain Goa ke log (Goans are strange people)’. In today's time nothing can be more far from the same in the wealth generation context. All credible economic forecasts are pointing to India being an economic superpower (irrespective of which party is in power) within the next few years and we see so many wealthy countries and investment entities investing in India, but for some "strange reasons" most Goans in addition to migrating out of Goa/India in the opposite direction are also taking their "money" with them to western countries increasingly offering lower returns on investments. Earlier it was mostly the likes of Gulf Goans who failed to invest in income generating investments in India which would have made them and their kin financially free/wealthy in this generation. In many ways it's also because of very high 'financial illiteracy" among the Goan community. It is sad to see another Goan generation losing the opportunity to make massive wealth with the exception of those who I hope will think differently.
