All is not well in the Margao Municipal Council building, where the public has to visit the office repeatedly. Every day, hundreds of people come to the office for various tasks, and the municipality earns a significant amount of money. The main reason for the issues is a shortage of staff in the municipal departments. In the construction and technical departments, there is no peon to find the files and give them to the staff in charge, so they have to do all the work themselves, causing delays.
The staff have raised this issue with higher authorities, but nothing has been done. Many positions in the municipal departments remain unfilled, leading to an increased workload. Daily wage workers and LDC employees have not been made permanent even after years of experience.
Experienced daily wage staff want to leave their jobs because their permanent status is not being considered, and the increasing workload and harassment are affecting their health and peace of mind. We request the Margao MLA, the Commissioner, and the CM to look into the matter and solve these problems as soon as possible.
