CM should focus on real issues, not imaginary conversions

CM Pramod Sawant, while replying to a calling attention motion by a BJP MLA and defending the Goa Police during the ongoing ‘Ayesha’ case probe, said his government is thinking about bringing an anti-conversion law like in Uttar Pradesh to deal with ‘forced conversions’. This led some MLAs to ask the government to share data on such cases reported in Goa. But why is Sawant so keen on bringing an anti-conversion law when such issues are not really happening in Goa? Sawant should instead focus on the real problems that Goans face daily, such as murders, rapes, poor roads, law and order issues, and illegal land grabbing and hill cutting. It makes no sense to discuss imaginary issues like ‘forced conversions’ and ‘love jihad’ on the Assembly floor just to distract people from the government’s failures.
