For the first time in the history of Arpora-Nagoa village, a newly built badminton court at Tambudki Vaddo, Arpora, has been named after the late Agnelo D’Souza Rauto, a former sarpanch. The court was inaugurated by MLA Michael Lobo in the presence of Sarpanch Roshan Redekar, Deputy Sarpanch Sushma Nagvekar, Communidade Attorney Ashley D’Souza, and other panchayat members.
Congratulations to the Village Panchayat Committee for building this new badminton court for local sports enthusiasts. Naming the court after the late Agnelo D’Souza is a well-deserved tribute. He was a humble and kind-hearted gentleman who served multiple terms as sarpanch and deputy sarpanch. He was also a former attorney of the Arpora-Nagoa Communidade for many years. Known for his honesty and clean political career, he stayed away from controversies. He was a calm and thoughtful leader who always resolved issues peacefully. Naming the court after him is a fitting decision by the Village Panchayat.
There are other badminton courts in Arpora-Nagoa, but fate has made Agnelo D’Souza the first former sarpanch to have his name honoured in this way. It is a natural recognition of his contributions. Let us hope that this court produces future badminton champions from the village.
