This is with reference to the news report ‘Armed with pulse oximeter AAP takes on Corona’ (TGE, Sept10). The ‘Goans against Corona’ campaign launched by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Goa, is both a welcome step and a timely measure to save precious lives in the state, which is struggling to free itself from the clutches of the killer Covid-19.
It is not only the daily surge of around 600 plus new cases that is alarming and worrying, but also the number of daily deaths. The door-to-door campaign by the AAP to check oxygen levels of individuals therefore needs to be appreciated and encouraged by the State govt. Very few can afford to purchase a pulse ‘Oximeter’ which costs around Rs 4,000. Very few are also educated on optimum oxygen requirements and levels in the blood.
A lot of lives can thus be saved through this campaign, especially, the asymptomatic ones, who show no signs of the killer virus, before it is too late.
