An apt message form the Vice President

The editorial on the Vice President's speech on the occasion of Legislator's Day was apt and says it all - Legislators in Goa need to introspect. In fact, the message in the speech itself is loud and clear and should enlighten not just the legislators in Goa but all other states as well. And of course, not to forget our MPs and all other elected representatives in the country. They need to develop a strong connect with the people they represent, irrespective of who has voted for them. The Vice President also raised a very important point when he highlighted character based on moral integrity. Very rightly stated, our elected representatives lack moral integrity and this is evident from the developments in various states in the recent past. The editorial also rightly calls for legislators to keep in mind people's needs and not of vested interests for sake for power. And a very important message that can't be missed - loyalty to the people, to the party, to the Constitution of the country. Alas, one only hopes that wiser counsel would prevail among the political class in our country.
