An excellent idea proposed by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi for getting the eight big cats from Namibia to India as a ray of hope to revive the population of cheetah in India. They are being kept in Kuno National Park, Andhra Pradesh, where they can get accustomed to the Indian environment. The names of these cheetahs are quite exciting: Freddy and Alton (siblings), Savannah and Sasha (sisters), and the other four are Obaan, Asha, Cibili, Saisa, although the names have not been changed since their arrival to India, but seems to have logic. Now, two elephants from Satpura Tiger Reserve in Narmadapuram have been brought to the park for the protection of the cheetahs.
The elephants, Lakshmi and Siddhnath are recognized in the State for the rescue operation of tigers. Critics have warned that these cheetahs may take time to get adjusting and may get into clash with other wildlife. We all know the good reasons for the extinction of these species and now they are being brought back, enough care needs to be taken for their safety and protection otherwise this whole exercise will be another national level event.
