The Indian government is seriously considering the request of its Russian counterpart for conducting the phase three trial of the Covid vaccine Sputnik V in India and also to go in for collaboration for its large scale manufacturing. A good vaccine is the need of the hour at this critical time when the pandemic is spreading so rapidly. Though many vaccines are on the way Sputnik V was the first to come out of the lab and already two phases of its trials have been done in Russia. Before mass production, our government must undertake a thorough study of the vaccine taking into consideration our Indian population, condition and the Indian health system.
