Is the authority concerned checking the purity of medical oxygen supplied to Goa? Medical oxygen is supplied in cylinders that have to be sent back for refilling. With 910 patients in Covid hospitals, if we consider 30 per cent to be comorbid, there are 273 who require at least 16 lpm oxygen. This means 749 cylinders per day. Since these must go for refilling we need 1500 cylinders. Do the Oxygen manufacturers have these many number of extra cylinders to cater to Covid patients? They will be running short of time to refill and there is every possibility they may reduce the time and hence purity of the oxygen. Doctors must use anything provided by the purchase department with no checks. Deaths will not reduce unless there is complete ownership of responsibility and punishment for failures.
