Malik removal: Eleven ministers did nothing

Malik removal: Eleven ministers did nothing

The hidden agenda of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the BJP in Goa stood exposed in the very crude manner in which they overnight shunted Governor Satya Pal Malik. Pramod Sawant needs to explain to the people of Goa as to what was lacking in Satya Pal Malik that required his removal from our State. All that he was doing as Governor was suggesting corrective measures for the wrongdoings. He was only discharging his constitutional duties.

The very outspoken and upright Satya Pal Malik had the spine to keep Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah informed of the wrongdoings by the Pramod Sawant government. It is also very anguishing that while Sawant was removing Satya Pal Malik as Governor, the other eleven ministers stood as mute spectators.

It is appalling that the Government did not even bother to give Malik an appropriate send-off. If he was allowed to stay back in Goa for a few more days the public would have accorded him a people’s farewell for all the good work he did in his brief 10-month tenure. The very amiable Malik was very popular and became the people’s voice while making the Raj Bhavan accessible to the common man. He had a mind of his own and to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s utter dismay Satya Pal Malik had very rightly refused to be a rubber stamp governor.
