PANAJI
Owing to paucity of time, the Supreme Court postponed by two weeks the hearing into the pleas filed by Goa mining companies - most prominently Vedanta Ltd and Geetabala Parulekar.
The matter was listed for Wednesday but did not come up for hearing as other matters occupied the time of the court.
Vedanta filed its plea in January this year and the Supreme Court bench led by the Chief Justice had issued notice returnable within four weeks to several respondents.
The Goa government is still trying to get its review plea tagged along with the pleas filed by the mining companies and while the CJI has granted his consent that it be heard by the same bench, it remains to be seen if the petitions are argued together or heard together.
The matter will be heard after four weeks.
