Despite knowing, people fall prey to fraudsters

A few days back a person from Ponda was cheated by a fraudster who promised to loan him Rs 20 lakh. The person remitted Rs 11.5 lakh to the fraudster over a period of time in the hope of obtaining Rs 20 lakh. The fraudster convinced the person that the amount was towards some charges or the other. The cheated person could have been wary and used his common sense and not gone ahead with the payments. It is ironic as to why he wanted a huge loan when he could arrange Rs 11.5 lakh so easily. Due to various reasons people get conned for so-called easy loans, winning in lottery, special gifts among others. The reasons why people get cheated are largely due to their greediness and also to make a quick buck and smart-talking fraudsters. We need to know that “there is no free meal in the world.” Despite police warning and daily news reports of cybercrimes, people still fall prey to fraudsters.

Organisation of ISL in Goa should benefit locals
