The law and police are supposed to uphold the law and protect law abiding citizens, but what is being observed today is that the Railways / RVNL which have been constructing on areas illegally ( as they have no papers to prove!) and blatantly ignoring environmental safeguards are instead protected by the Goa Government using the police. Now the latest outrage is the Government/RVNL filing false charges against about 14 people who are opposing the destruction at Velsao. Goans have to wake up fast to this menace as with such dictatorial attitude with scant regard to democratic values the Goa Government can, not only destroy at will to serve their specific corporate sponsors and their Central Govt bigwigs; but also come after any one of us in the future.
