On November 7, people woke up to the welcome news that the State government has withdrawn the permission given to Sunburn festival which had been approved just a day or two before. The decision is one among the many U-turns the government has taken, the most recent being the accommodation facility given to the doctors posted at the Covid hospitals in South Goa which was withdrawn and reversed within 24 hours. Then came the decision to withdraw the accommodation facilities given to the nurses posted at the Covid hospitals in South Goa, again withdrawn /reversed within 24 hours. A few weeks earlier was the decision to make DDSSY scheme applicable to Covid patients admitted in private hospitals, only to be withdrawn in 24 hours. The list could go on endlessly. What most people are unable to understand is why does the government keep taking obviously flawed decisions and then having to backtrack on the same. It is because of the flawed decision-making process that Goa went from being in the green zone to red and witnessed so many Covid cases and deaths.
