Focus on making Goa’s villages self-reliant

Apropos to ‘Focus on villages first to full develop State: CM’ (The Goan Everyday April 20, 2022), we need to focus on making our villages self-reliant, if we are to see a fully developed Goa. The Chief Minister has driven home the point very clearly. In fact, this holds true for all states in the country, not just for Goa. Developing villages/rural areas would stop the migration of people into cities. If we are seeing the mushrooming slums in the metro cities, it is because people in the villages and rural areas are unable to find suitable employment. And so, the infrastructure in our cities is under tremendous pressure, our cities are turned into eyesores. It’s time the authorities understood this, and take suitable steps to rectify the situation. And, of course, education would definitely help in changing the mindset of the people. We all want development, but we need to take the right steps. Are we will willing to do that?
