Get rid of garbage piled up near Benaulim p’yat ghar

Due to the ongoing construction of a garbage treatment plant adjoining the Benaulim panchayat ghar, all the trash has been dumped in the open in front of the post office and a milk retail centre which is housed in the building. Tonnes of trash packed in black polythene bags and tied up plastic waste are seen piled high on the ground and the place stinks to high heavens at the slightest hint of rain. A baling machine installed on the grounds seems to be more of a sculptural entity than serving any useful purpose. I would request the village authorities to shift this eyesore marring beautiful Benaulim to someplace not accessible to the public and get rid of it.

Dangerous hoarding

An illegal hoarding mounted on a steel table pedestal has come up near Trinity church, Benaulim. Given the spread of the base, its location at the trijunction and the absence of speed breakers, it is a traffic hazard for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers. Fast-moving vehicles on the stretch have been known to swerve and fall in trying to avoid the hoarding. I request the village panchayat to revoke the permission (if granted) to the billboard agency and get the eyesore removed.

And…
