Talks of Congress revival are without substance

The age-old party, Congress, is trying to end the old versus new tussle in an attempt to rejuvenate party cadres after repeated debacles in the assembly elections in the states. Even though a reform template is presented, the hope of revival seems to be rather a one-sided effort without much substance. The uniform view of the G-23 leaders was for the change of leadership and that could not be met despite much fanfare. Bharat Jodo is the new maxim after doing all the damage in the past. In politics, there is no retirement age as power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. By the time the party leaders take a viable decision half of them will cross 50-plus age. The timeline to fill all vacancies is given as 120 days, which is too little as the search for a president dragged on for years without a wholehearted effort. In all, it all appears a futile exercise and just an eyewash for buying time and dragging the matter for some more period.
