Goa will always miss this eminent educationist

In the death of Prof Edward de Lima we have lost a great educationist. He had attained a Doctorate and retired as Head of the English Department at a Mapusa College. The multilingual Prof de Lima was a passionate crusader of Konkani. He never shied away from playing his role on the socio-political turf. A prolific writer that he was, Prof de Lima had many books he penned to his credit evolving around Konkani. Recollect Prof de Lima being a member of the jury at many elocution and essay contests that I had participated during my school and college days. A man with a very intellectual mind, it was always enriching to interact with Prof de Lima who always led a very modest and simple life. His concern for Goa and propagating the cause of Konkani was always so dear to him. He must have been concerned and distressed at the rapid changing face and degradation of our once picturesque and tranquil State. Goa will miss an eminent, outstanding and dedicated Goan who may have been soft-spoken but was crystal clear in his thoughts and beliefs.
