The horrific fires in the Taleigao fields was just a tragedy waiting to happen. Goa is witnessing increasingly more forest and other fires in green areas over the last few years and all the Goa government does is announce probes (to probably deceitfully calm the public) and then do nothing about it. Not surprisingly Goa government just announced a probe into the latest Taleigao fires. It’s a no brainer that Goa is heating up with forests, trees, hills, etc being destroyed; all aided massive, rapid concretisation (particularly housing projects), allowed by a greedy, corrupt set of ruling politicians (including Govt/municipal/panchayat). Unless Goans in general wake up and “smell the coffee” the rest of Goa’s villages/towns will soon have “Taleigao/worse” type of fires coming to them.
