We need to take steps to stop future terror attacks

This is with reference to the news report, "India strikes with sindoor, Pakistan sees red" - The Goan Everyday - May 8, 2025. That was indeed a fitting, measured response from India to the cowardly attack on civilians at Pahalgam. Our Defence personnel showed what they can do when given a free hand and they have proved themselves beyond measure. Pahalgam has been avenged, now what next? Let's get this right, this may not be the end of the story. We cannot go on like this. We need to look back at Pulwama, at Pahalgam and other terror attacks and take all measures to prevent future terror attacks. Too many lives have been lost, not only civilians but our defence personnel as well. Every life is precious. Everybody wants peace, so let's work towards that end. We need to understand, war is not the solution to peace!

Who will pay dog tax for stray dogs on streets?

It is learnt that the Mapusa Municipal Council has reportedly announced the introduction of a new tax on dog owners. As part of the new regulation, a one-time registration fee of Rs 500 will be charged for each dog, with an annual renewal fee of Rs 100. Registering a pet dog with the civic body is a good step but why should the dog owner be made to pay such a hefty dog tax? The dog owners could have been charged a nominal registration fee.
