Despite several attempts by the Police to curb liquor consumption in public places, drinking of alcohol still continues in some corners of Panaji. Drinking of liquor in public places not only creates a nuisance but it also makes the surroundings dirty. The ragpiggers, labourers having alcohols in front of Patto Govt quarters, Panaji early morning by sitting on the compound wall. Some persons do it inside the Patto govt quarters compound, below the bridge and smart city compound to consume alcohol. Even few labourers are seen waiting for the liquor shops to open in morning at Patto. Drinking of liquor in public sees ragpickers and labourers purchase from retail shops in front of Patto Govt quarters at Panaji and consume it sitting in the public places and at corners. It's also reported that peoples consume alcohol in daylight at Mapusa Kadamba Bus Stand. Locals question whether authorities are monitoring the situation. There has to be discipline. Drinking in public cannot be tolerated.
