Govt must help grieving mother build house

The chilling video footage of the incident wherein a young lad from Chandor was shot dead at point-blank range in the US by a masked assailant, which went viral on the social media, has sent shockwaves across the state. Like many young Goans who dream of making it to the land of opportunity, the deceased lad John Dias, too made it to the US three years ago. He was hopeful of getting the green card while he worked at the store in Texas. He was the lone bread-winner and is survived by his mother. It is understood that John had bought a plot and wanted to build a house for his mother as they were living in a one-room rented house. He had planned to come down to Goa in 2024. John was a simple and hard-working man who lost his father at a very young age and wanted to give his mother a better life. The Goa government should take up the matter with the Indian embassy in the US to bring the culprits to book. The government also needs to give all assistance to the grieving mother and also help her financially to build the house which was the dream of her deceased son.
