Govt must take proactive steps to prevent crime

The murder of a young jeweller in Margoa haswoken up the government from its slumber. When CCTV cameras in thevicinity of the murder scene were checked, most were dead. Policehave discovered that most of the CCTV cameras in major cities are outof service. The authorities concerned have failed to allocate aseparate budget for the maintenance of these cameras. In Goa, many ofthe households have installed CCTV security systems to secure theirpremises. The CCTVs provide people with an increased sense ofsecurity and reassurance, particularly in areas where the crime rateis high. From now on the government must take proactive steps and notreactive to prevent crime.

Reopening of schools at this stage would mean endangeringthe lives of children and their families. For now, online educationmust continue.
