Goa always boasted of a good healthcaresystem and even won awards for having the best parameters in the health sector. But Covid has laid bare all of those awards and exposed a failing healthcaresystem, or one should explain why are people dying every day of this disease? The government was warned of the impending danger and was told to beCovid-ready, but complacency is the hallmark of our governance. Nothing can gowrong in this sunny state. Here, there is no need to worry -- better said inour Chief Minister's words: Bhivpachi Goroz Na. Let us come to our senses andaccept we are failing, and that too very badly. Yes, we all know this diseasecreates havoc in comorbid patients, but how is the government addressing thisissue? It appears that it is sacrificing its citizens (and mind you not all areold with a weak immune system) on the altar of comorbidity. It's one hell of acover the government found to hide under. It is certain most of the deaths weredue to comorbidity, but what about the 14-year-old girl from Vasco? How did shedie? The media has not bothered to probe into some of the deaths, including thegirl from Vasco. If she died of comorbidity, there needs to be a detailed probeby an independent agency of experts. Not all deaths can be attributed tocomorbidity. There is something much more going on. Goans should demand answersor else you will be the next sacrificial "comorbid" lamb.
